Fischer-Tropsch wax is a methylene polymer, specifically an alkane polymer synthesized from carbon-hydrogen based synthesis gas or natural gas. It is primarily produced through iron-based or cobalt-based synthesis processes that rely on high-quality, low-cost raw materials from the coal chemical industry.
Fischer-Tropsch wax is characterized by its high melting point, narrow melting range, low viscosity, excellent lubricity, and chemical inertness, making it highly suitable for applications requiring thermal stability, smooth textures, and non-reactive properties.
Fischer-Tropsch wax has a wide range of applications. In plastic processing, it can serve as an external lubricant to enhance production speed and improve the gloss of finished products. In inks and coatings, it increases wear resistance, wrinkle resistance, and creates a wrinkling effect. In adhesives, it is an ideal synthetic wax for EVA-based hot melt adhesives, improving heat resistance and fast-drying properties. Additionally, it finds applications in candle making, packaging materials, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical formulations.
